Checking in with AVN’s Best Male Newcomer Ricky Johnson

Ricky Takes Care of Business

AVN Best Male Newcomer Ricky Johnson just got nominated by the XRCO for their equivalent award, Best New Stud. Johnson has been a busy, happy man since his award win back in January and I hear nothing from other performers/porn producers other than that he is a complete professional on set and a total pleasure to be around. Hailing from California, Johnson is - quite noticeably - a fitness buff who is dedicated to his track and field pursuits. He got into the business on a whim, sending photos of himself to talent agency OC Modeling who signed him to their slate right away, immediately seeing his potential.

He is in his second year in porn and he works regularly for all of the top studios. His versatility has been an impressive aspect to him. He is absolutely fine with delivering as much dialogue as he is given or being put as part of a gangbang such as the ones he was nominated for taking part in this year including ArchAngel's "Ava's All In" and Darkko/Evil Angel's "Adriana Chechik: Dirty Little Slut." His latest and greatest work,directed by Paul Woodcrest, is in New Sensations' "Dirty Little Interracial Schoolgirl Stories," where he enjoys the charms of covergirl Kylie Page. I absolutely suggest staying aware of his projects.

 What does it feel like taking home one of the biggest awards that a male porn star can win?

"It was such a great feeling! I'm so grateful to all the companies and other performers I’ve had the pleasure of working with. I also couldn’t have done it without my amazing fans, OC Modeling, and The Rub PR."

Of your fellow nominees, who did you think would take home that trophy, other than you?

"I thought every one of them deserved it just as much as me. I know that all of them will have long and successful careers in the industry."

What does winning the award mean to you?

"Winning this award just means I need to keep on working, and developing my craft in the adult world. I'm humbled and honored for the award, but it means nothing if I don't follow through with more work."

What do you hope that winning the award does for you, both personally and in your career?

"I hope it opens the door for me to work for some of the companies and directors that I haven’t worked with yet. I also hope to be able to do more behind the scenes work and feature films."

What type of projects do you want to do from here? Has your creative agenda changed?

"I’m working on starting my own website soon. I would also like to direct, because I think I have some pretty cool new ideas that would bring something fresh to the industry."

What was the reception to your victory like from your fans on Twitter?

"I was overwhelmed with fans and others in the industry congratulating me on Twitter. Again, I'm just so humbled by this whole experience and ready to prepare for this upcoming year."

What can fans expect to see from you in the coming year?

"Expect more feature films, scenes, and overall just MORE this year, than in the past. I’m ready to hit the ground running and work as much as possible! If any fans would like to see me work with anyone in particular or have scene ideas, hit me up on Twitter or Instagram. And, also they can tweet to the studios to tell them to hire me for future projects."

What do you want to achieve next?

"I hope to do some good work and get nominated for Male Performer of the Year. I just want to bring some more hardware (AKA my trophies) to my agency, OC Modeling."

What advice do you have for a brand new male performer who wants to experience the success that you have?

"I would say to be humble and ask questions to your agent or other performers. Knowledge and being comfortable are very important to having success in this business, I believe. Also, be on time, be professional on set, and turn out the best scenes you can. That’s not only a way to get hired more, but to also the way to be recognized for your work."
